The North Carolina Medical Student Symposium on Interventional Radiology (NCMSSIR), jointly sponsored by Duke University School of Medicine, UNC Chapel Hill School of Medicine, Wake Forest University Bowman Gray School of Medicine, and ECU School of Medicine was created to provide a comprehensive source of information for medical students considering a career in interventional radiology via an annual symposium. The symposium locale is either the Triangle or Triad. Whether you you are convinced IR is your future or have never heard of IR, the annual NCMSSIR symposium will provide a wealth of information on IR!
- Interventional radiology faculty from Duke, UNC, Wake Forest, and ECU will be in attendance to discuss common treatments in IR as well as the minimally invasive image-guided techniques in current use.
- Local private practice interventional radiologists from Charlotte radiology will also be in attendance to provide complementary information and a more comprehensive perspective on the job market
- A panel of IR residency program directors, residents and upper-level medical students will participate in small-group discussions with attendees regarding research, application process, mentorship, etc.
- Students will get a chance to experience interactive simulation events with state of the art equipment from leading medical device companies.
- A social event for students to network with IR residents and attendings.
- Medical students from outside NC are welcome too.

*The 2022 annual symposium is tentatively going to be held in fall, 2022!
