Welcome to the Multicultural Consultation Team housed within the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Duke University School of Medicine.

We are a community of faculty, trainees, and staff members who have developed an intentionally inclusive space designed to increase our capacity to create a healing and wellness home for all of the patients we serve. We have a keen appreciation for the intersections of various identities (e.g., being a member of the LGBTQ+ community, being from an underrepresented racial/ethnic background). In our approach, we hold a deliberately broad conceptualization of multiculturalism and diversity – viewing the individual in contexts that are often shaped by systems of oppression while also recognizing and celebrating strengths that arise from our differences. We uphold a primary aspirational value of lifelong learning in this area and thus are committed to creating a space where we can respectfully challenge and grow with one another.

The team is an open team whereby new interested members are always welcome to join. Please contact us if you would like to be a part of the MC Team!
