The original motivation for our work was to develop a comprehensive tool that would enable graduate students of varying disciplines and backgrounds to “play through” various scenarios to facilitate mentorship within their everyday lives. Whether you’re a MS student focused on developing industry experience, a first year PhD student just getting into research, or a postdoc exploring the intricacies of your field, we wanted to put forth a resource that could be universally applied to help answer some of the critical but less popularized questions that come with the uncertainty of developing a new professional relationship. These are not easy scenarios to navigate in the real-world, so we hope that our modules can provide a bit of guidance for how to approach situations located in the following themes:
