Duke Media Services provides professional media production services, from concept to completion, to the Duke University and Medical Center community. Whether it’s a live television broadcast on a major news network, video production on location, or a studio recording of a scripted program, our experienced staff of professionals can help you get the final product you need at market competitive prices. With a combined 85+ years of broadcast and studio production experience, our staff is ready to help.

Conveniently located on West Campus in the Bryan University Center, we are a short walk from Medical Center and West Campus locations. Come visit our studio production facility—we are just steps away from your office.

Event Support

Duke Media Services can capture events on location or in our studio. We offer professional quality video and audio capture to multiple digital file formats, as well as live web streaming support. In addition, video may be encoded and posted to the University streaming servers for video on demand after the live event. Our familiarity with venues and network infrastructure across the campus and the medical center optimizes the recording of lectures, meetings, conferences, symposiums, performances, and special events, as well as project related production of materials.

Working in conjunction with other members of the Event Management team, Duke Media Services can arrange turn-key packages that include: production locations, catering, scenery construction, costuming, make-up, lighting design, audiovisual support for meetings or other functions, and live sound reinforcement at locations across campus

Live from Duke Studio

Duke University provides technical support in its radio and television studio facilities for on-campus broadcast television and radio interviews with faculty experts and administrators. These facilities are conveniently located in the Bryan Center and allow our professors to share their expertise with local and national audiences, in live or pre-taped interviews.

While we make every effort to accommodate broadcast interview requests, we are not staffed as an “around-the-clock” service. Please try to schedule interviews as far ahead as possible. Normal business hours for live production are 7AM-7PM.

Original Production & Stock Footage

Need shots from the Duke campus for your next project? We have a large inventory of “B-roll” stock footage available for use in video projects at very modest cost. And if you need stills, we work with Duke Photography to provide high quality digital photography for your project. Tell us what you’re looking for.

Production Services

Duke Media Services has been serving Duke for nearly thirty years. In addition to offering the only dedicated studio production facility on the Duke campus, Duke Studio, our experienced staff understands the media production needs of this the Duke community. From the operating rooms of Duke Hospital to the floor of Cameron Indoor Stadium, we have supported the production needs of our clients across campus and the medical center.

Live Streaming Support
We have been assisting our clients with web streaming since the “early” days. Whether needed in support of a live event, or for video-on-demand, we have experience with Quicktime and Flash streaming.

Student Media

• The mission of Duke student media is to provide Duke students and other members of the Duke community:

An environment that fosters the development of students’ skills in a unique co-curricular setting that allows for high levels of participation in daily run, product oriented organizations
Realistic opportunities for students to learn and gain competency in the areas of specialized mass communication such as print media, film production, and video and audio production
Print and broadcast media that serve as forums for free expression, allowing the exchange of ideas, dissemination of news, outlets for creative work, and vehicles of entertainment, fulfilling a role critically essential to the health of a vibrant university in a democratic society.

Teleconferencing

Teleconferencing/teleclass production is available, both in our dedicated facility the Bryan Student Center or with remote production facilities at your location, to accommodate the special requirements of a virtual presence for classroom teaching, meetings, presentations, sharing progress reports and collaboration with colleagues, affidavits, etc.

You can eliminate the cost and inconvenience of travel for conferences and meetings. This is also useful for expert witness depositions as well as job interviews.
