March 11th, 2022: Introduction on Continued Fractions

Abstract:
I will begin with elementary examples of continued fractions of real numbers and functions. For the latter, the J(acobi)-fractions, as well as its connections with orthogonal polynomials, will be introduced. Some classical contractions will be given. As the main example, we focus on the Narayana polynomials, Narayana numbers, and their combinatorial counting for the unlabeled ordered rooted trees.
