Mac, by David Rothblatt

Last winter, our fraternity lost its de-facto leader. Mac was truly one-of-a-kind. With his effortless charisma and selfless soul, he was an enormously positive presence on all of our lives. This piece is a letter that I am writing to him, incorporating the voices of a few fellow brothers. Collectively, we tell him just how much he meant to us.

If You Could Redo College, Would You Change Your Major? by Janie Hendrickson

We’re all familiar with the term effortless perfection. It’s seeing your friends seamlessly glide through the water, acing midterms, starting clubs, and landing job interviews, without exerting any extra effort. But does it go beyond that? Is the idea of having to be perfect forcing students to major in subjects they aren’t interested in just to get the perfect career? Listen to one Duke senior’s story and how he chose the road less traveled.

We’re All Living Against Time, by Lishan Guo

I’ve always been touched by us, as humans, to live intentional or unintentional lives. We’re not actually made by “changes,” but we’re put together by these little things that don’t change in our lives and by living in our own little heterotopias. We’re all holding this great value of living against time, and we stays “young” by remaining these repetitions.

I look at their mindset inside and outside the locker room.

The Prayer Band, by Zaire McPhearson

The Prayer Band was a Charismatic Movement that took place in the mid-1970’s through the mid-2010’s. The Prayer Band was a group of women and children who followed in the footsteps of a very strong leader. This was a Christian organization that later turned into a cult and forever changed the lives of everyone involved. The leader formed her own ministry to control the lives of these women in any way possible. They were not allowed to do anything without the consent of the leader or they would be punished. This group of women lived a very fearful life for many years until they were able to gain the strength to move away and start a new life.
