Requesting UW broad-range PCR testing through the Duke referral lab
For FRESH TISSUE or BODY FLUID specimens:
- Notify micro that you intend to request this testing, and verify that there is available tissue/body fluid.
- Place an order in Maestro Care.
- Gen Code Commercial Lab O/T- LAB6371:
- Test name = Broad Range PCR with reflex to NGS 16S
- Performing lab = University of Washington Molecular Microbiology
- Test code = NTMPCR, TBCPCR, BCTPCR (NGS16S), FUNPCR
- Comments: Enter the collection and date and time of the original specimen.
- For outpatients, enter as a “future” order.
- Gen Code Commercial Lab O/T- LAB6371:

Complete the UW requisition form. Fill in the patient information, the ordering provider information, and the requested testing. The referral lab can complete the client code/return address information.
- Email the complete requisition(s) to clinlab4@dm.duke.edu with the subject named: Univ of Washington Molecular Microbiology test request.
*Additional specimen and testing considerations:
- If you do not intend to order broad-range testing, pathogen-specific PCR can be requested using codes found on the UW request sheet. Each one of these tests needs a separate Gen Code order.
- If you are ordering broard-range PCR on more than one specimen, each specimen source requires a separate order and form.
For FIXED tissue/Pathology specimens:
- E-mail ReferralLabAPSendOuts@duke.edu with the subject line: Univ of Washington Molecular Microbiology test request.
