Who is eligible to apply for HPREP?
HPREP is open to high school students in grades 9–11 who are interested in healthcare sciences and identify as members of a racial/ethnic group underrepresented in healthcare.

When are the sessions held?
HPREP 2025 consists of 8 sessions held from January to April. Each session takes place from 9 AM – 12 PM at the Duke University School of Medicine. Students must attend at least 6 of the 8 sessions to complete the program.

What does the application process involve?
The application will require students to submit materials such as demographic information, personal essays, and a resume. The application link will be available soon, so keep checking this page for updates.

Is there a cost to participate in HPREP?
No, HPREP is free of charge for all accepted students.

Can I still participate if I have to miss more than two sessions?
To get the most out of our program, we strongly recommend that students attend at least 6 out of the 8 sessions. Students who miss more than two sessions will not be eligible to win a scholarship at our closing ceremony.

How will I know if I’ve been accepted into the program?
You will receive an email notification regarding your application status after the selection process is complete.

Do I need to have previous healthcare or medical experience to apply?
No previous experience in healthcare or medicine is necessary. HPREP is designed to expose students to the healthcare field and provide opportunities to explore different career paths.

Is transportation provided for the sessions?
Students are responsible for arranging their own transportation to and from the Duke University School of Medicine.
