I am writing this note to program a Kwikset Powerbolt Deadbolt Lock, and I find this helpful video. The guy did a fantastic job and he really deserves the credit. If people prefer to read instruction manual, here it is: powerbolt2-programming-instructions
A few important reminders:
The powerbolt is powered by 4 AA batteries The reset button is located at the back (inside) of the lock, by pushing it down for 5 seconds until it beats, The manufacture master code is always: 0-0-0-0. Never make the master code same as the manufacture's master code Beeping for twice is a successful sign, while beeping for 3 times is a bad one.
To reset the lock and get ready to program the pass code
1. Make sure the lock is in the unlocked position. 2. Remove the battery cover. 3. Press and hold the “Reset” button for 5 seconds. You will hear 3 long beeps after the 5 seconds is completed indicating the lock has been reset.
As a result, You will reset your User Code to 1-2-3-4 and Mastercode to 0-0-0-0 when the reset is complete.
To set locking/unlocking positions
1. Make sure the door is open and in the unlocked position. 2. Press 0 – 0 – 0 – 0 – LockSign – 0 – LockSign Note: Each button represents two numbers (i.e. ONLY push the button once for 0). If you incorrectly enter the code, wait 10 seconds until you hear three beeps. Then you can try again. 3. If the step was completed correctly, the latch bolt will extend out and retract back in completely. 4. It should beeps twice.
What can go wrong, if you hear it beeps three times.
To test the lock
1. Make sure the door is open and in the unlocked position. 2. Press LockSign 3. The latch will extend fully to the lock position and end with one beep and the keypad will turn off. 4. Enter 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 – LockSign 5. The latch will retract fully in the unlock position and end with one beep and the keypad will turn off.
