Digital Durham 3.0

Digital Durham 3.0 focuses on art and history-specific critical interventions into archive and map developing, using database-driven digital maps and multimodal annotations, as well as augmented reality systems and gaming techniques, to create presence-of-the-past tours, narratives, art installations, and games around Durham history. Our goals are to enrich understanding of Durham history by highlighting the presence of the past in context, to provide greater access to digital materials, to explore digtal mapping as a form of scholarship authorship, and to develop a platform for geospatially based digital storytelling. Over the course of GTG Lab grant period, we plan to expand the concept to various other cities and contexts with which we are involved.
