TWP Graduate Student Consultant Position

By: John Zhu

Each year, the Thompson Writing Program conducts a competitive search for a select number of Graduate Student Consultants/Tutors to work in the TWP Writing Studio. The Graduate Student Consultant’s primary responsibility is to consult/tutor Duke students in the TWP Writing Studio.

Consultants will work a total of twelve (12) hours each week. Consulting/tutoring hours are divided into shifts of two (2), three (3), or four (4) hours each week; with one (1) hour devoted to meetings and administrative duties. We ask Consultants to be available for up to two evening shifts. Participation in peer observations with other consultants and/or Eliana Schonberg, Director of the TWP Writing Studio is considered part of ongoing professional development and work in the Studio.

Attendance at an in person week-long orientation in August prior to the start of classes is mandatory. The precise days/times of the orientation will be confirmed at a later date. Positions are open to PhD graduate students, currently enrolled at Duke University.

To apply, please email a CV, cover letter, and a writing sample (10-15 pages) to Dr. Eliana Schonberg, Director of the TWP Writing Studio at Eliana.Schonberg@duke.edu.
