The Urban Leaders Fellowship WANTS YOU!!! We are exactly 20 days before the official 2022 ULF application opens and want to extend an early invitation to join one of four premier webinars that will feature ULF staff, National Alumni Ambassadors, and Regional Directors; tips and strategies to construct a strong and compelling application; understand the structure of the ULF experience; and network with potential applicants.
What Is the ULF?
The Urban Leaders Fellowship is a paid summer fellowship for professionals who come from various backgrounds, professions, ideologies, and experiences
with a sincere commitment to transform communities through people and partnerships. The Urban Leaders Fellowship is for professionals who are already leaders in their own right and are looking to accelerate their leadership through fellowship with a focus on policy and practice.
Who is the ideal candidate for ULF?
While the program is designed to assemble a unique and diverse cohort of individuals, ULF fellows most successful in the fellowship share certain characteristics:
- Motivated, self-starter who takes initiative with experience driving and sustaining both short and long-term projects
- Seeks collaboration to problem-solve and navigate ambiguity including the ability to govern work independently and manage up to accomplish outcome
- Actively seek perspectives that are different than their own operating with in a mindset of humility
- Professionals with at least 2 years of professional experience with excellent written and oral communication skill
- Committed to personal reflection and professional development with a desire to transform the community through partnerships
- Looking to accelerate their leadership through fellowship with a focus on policy and practice
- Team player that can build relationships with a variety of stakeholders (i.e., cohort, elected official, partnering organization, community members, etc)
Where would I work?
Applicants to the Urban Leaders Fellowship are a startling array of young talent interested in policy and working with underserved communities in Atlanta, Dallas, Denver, Indianapolis, Nashville, New Orleans, Kansas City Missouri, Oakland, Tulsa, and Washington, D.C..Each fellow will earn a $2500-3500 stipend during the seven week fellowship. Many of our fellows and alumni are currently teaching or in graduate school, or transitioning from high-impact roles in government and nonprofit. This also includes former student body presidents, Rhodes and Fulbright Scholars, published authors, award-winning teachers, Ph.D. students, law and public policy students and individuals with several years of nonprofit and professional experience hailing from across the country.
