Call for Proposals: Graduate Working Groups on Global Issues; Apply by Sept. 15

The Duke University Center for International & Global Studies (DUCIGS) invites proposals for interdisciplinary, student-driven groups with an international and global focus. DUCIGS will provide up to $1,000 annually per working group for expenses related to meetings. Additional funds may be requested for reading & audio-visual materials, mini-conferences, seminars, symposia, workshops, etc.

In addition to receiving proposals with an international/global focus, DUCIGS encourages submissions that focus on Africa and Asia (the Africa Initiative and the Global Asia Initiative will consider supporting such regional proposals) and themes of interest to the Asian American and Diaspora Studies Program (AADS). This year, we also invite students to submit proposals focusing on the role of science in diplomacy. Working Groups from previous academic years are strongly encouraged to re-apply.

We suggest the formation of working groups comprised of members from at least two different disciplines. Meetings should be held at least four times each semester.

Applications due: Wednesday, September 15, 2021
