Shu Hu is an M.A. candidate in the Graduate Liberal Studies Program at Duke University. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Tsinghua University, China. Her career has revolved around technology, media, and communication, with eight years as a public relations professional in China, working for some of the best-known tech/auto brands (including Lenovo, that’s how she first knew about the triangle area!) Her experience in corporate crisis management heightened her awareness of the importance of social studies.
Driven by her passion and interest in social studies, cross-cultural communication and nonfiction writing, she embarked on a journey from China to the U.S. to pursue a master’s degree at Duke University. At Duke, she learns, researches and writes on the intersection of gender, technology, and social equity through a cross-cultural lens. She is fortunate to have her family with her during her time at GLS and has a lovely daughter who learned to walk and speak her first words while she completed her degree.
