Dr. Cook is a Tenured Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Duke University in the United States. He also has appointments in the Department of Population Health and the Duke Clinical Research Center. He holds conjoint appointments with Newcastle University (Australia) and Youngstown State University (USA). Dr. Cook is a licensed physical therapist with over 32 years of clinical experience. Along with Dr. William Reed, he is a Principal Investigator (MPI) on the ForceNET grant. As an accomplished and prolific researcher, Dr. Cook has published on topics such as diagnostic accuracy, clinical outcomes, and manual therapy-related scholarship. His most recent focus addresses contextual and social factors and their influence on recovery. He is the Director of the Duke Center for Excellence in Manual and Manipulative Therapy, which was created as an information dissemination site. He is also the Director of Clinical Research Facilitation for the Department of Orthopaedics at Duke University, which reflects his passion for training new investigators. His research has led to a number of local and national awards and in 2019, he received the highest recognition (Catherine Worthingham Fellow) of the American Physical Therapy Association. Dr. Cook is recognized as one of the most prolific physical therapist researchers in the world.

Dr. Cook is excited to build a network of like-type researchers who are interested in bridging the knowledge gap between force-based mechanisms research and clinically-derived outcomes. At ForceNET, he chairs the Dissemination working group and is a working group member in the conference planning working group.
