A Collaborative Ethnography

Duke COVID Art Gallery

Whether it was as coursework or relaxation, in a group or by oneself, at Duke or at home, art never ceased to be produced and enjoyed during the COVID-19 pandemic. Through our interviews with numerous artists in the Duke community, we were reminded of the many ways that art is produced and the equally numerous reasons for its production. Most importantly, however, we were constantly impressed by the beauty of the art and the passion the artists held towards their work.

Below you will see a number of pieces that we were able to curate during our fieldwork. In addition to their willingness to participate in our project, the artists whose work is featured below were kind enough to share some of their talent with us for our enjoyment. In addition, we have also included some of our own work in the gallery below. We hope that you will be able to enjoy the artwork below, both as art itself and as a reminder of the ways that art shapes our lives, both during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.
