Administrative Staff
Joseph Kipkoech
Joseph is our Program Manager and oversees operational aspects of all of our different projects. He has an interest in innovative education and training approaches for laypersons involved in health interventions.
Lucy Abel
Lucy is our Deputy Coordinator and entomologist. She oversees our field team, coordinates community-based surveys, and trains field teams and students on mosquito collection and identification.
Emmah Kimachas
Emmah is our Data Manager who oversees data collected from many sources, both human and mosquito, for all of our various studies. She trains field teams and ensures the quality and integrity of our data pipelines.
Caroline Ngina
Caroinel is our Assistant Data Manager. In this role, she ensures data quality, designs data collection tools, and conducts analyses for the studies out of Western Kenya.
GEORGE AMBANI
George is a Research and Data Assistant who works on digitizing study records and interacts with community health workers. He also supports projects in Turkana.
BEATRICE ROTICH
Beatrice is a research assistant in our work involving the pastoral communities of Northern Kenya. She develops study tools and participates in field research activities in Turkana.
EDNA SANG
Edna is our Duke Global Inc. Coordinator. She is our liaison with the local IRB and also assists with several of our programs.
Emily Robie
Emily is our Duke-based Program Coordinator, supporting grant proposals, project timelines, and creative problem-solving across all studies.
PEARL Laboratory Staff
Erastus Kirwa
Kirwa is a Medical Scientist at PEARL, overseeing parasite detection in mosquito and blood samples. He also ensures the efficient functioning of the laboratory through a focus on both quality and safety.
Linda Maraga
Linda is a laboratory scientist and senior clinical microscopist at PEARL. She enjoys mentoring and facilitating trainings, and is a lead instructor in the Clinical Microscopy Training Program.
Tabitha Chepkwony
Tabitha is a Laboratory Scientist at PEARL. She serves as an intermediary between the office and lab, and coordinates our Clinical Microscopy Training Program.
Mark Amunga
Mark is a laboratory scientist at PEARL. He performs molecular assays, microscopy tests, and general laboratory activities, as well as field operations.

Karla Rascon-Garcia
Karla is a Postdoctoral Associate based in Duke’s Global Health Institute. Her research interests include neglected tropical diseases, social network analysis, vector borne parasitology and spatial disease modeling in global health.
Mireya Dorado
Mireya is a Master’s of Science in Global Health student at Duke’s Global Health Institute. Her research interests include infectious diseases, climate health, spatial epidemiology, and data science.
