Our computational research is far from finished! There are so many fascinating avenues for further explorations of early modern English language, ethics, and history.
- We should analyze texts that retain their original spellings, punctuation, and capitalization.
- We should compile and publish analyses of other metadata in our dataset, especially of authors and publishers.
- We can investigate 16th and early 17th century crises, consumption, corruption, and censorship. Our current research focus fixates on texts published between 1660 and 1700, a time period in English history that is known for the Restoration and Glorious Revolution. In particular, examining the religious and political discourses of the English Civil War and Interregnum would give us greater insight on the continuities or changes of thought in the Restoration.
- We can apply statistical methods on literature, whether novels, plays, or poems, and evaluate their utility and accuracy.
