The collection of musical instruments that make up the Duke University Musical Instrument Collection range from ethnographic instruments from locations ranging from Mali to China to Romania, as well as Western instruments including pianos, horns, and flutes. These were given as gifts, transfers from the Perkins Library, and were purchased. The collection is comprised of about 50 objects.
