Michael brings 20+ years of training industry experience to his current role in the Duke University Health System (DUHS). He’s the primary designer and developer of online courses that focus on Maestro Care, the electronic medical record (from Epic Systems Corporation) used across DUHS. Michael has begun to widen that focus to include clinical and policy-related modules. Equipped with Articulate’s Storyline and Audacity, Michael has created dozens of creative, innovative offerings that use elements of software simulation, exploration, gaming and mobile and mistake-driven learning to help doctors, nurses, pharmacists and ancillary staff become proficient with Maestro Care and to help keep patients safe.

In addition, Michael has spent a significant amount of time in his career as a classroom instructor and facilitator. He has presented at Epic’s Training Advisory Council, the NC Epic User Group, Duke Learning Innovation’s Distance Education Special Interest Group and Duke OIT Lunch & Learn events. He’s also a member of the Duke Arts & Health Advisory Council and the Photographer-in-Residence at Historic Oakwood Cemetery.
