Izy Lewis Obi is a training development professional with 22+ years at Duke School of Nursing (DUSON) and more than 30 years of experience working in higher education and community service. Izy’s primary role at DUSON is to develop and implement marketing strategies; the goal is to cold-call, canvas, recruit, and negotiate to create and coordinate +/-30,000 hours (@15 FTE) of gratuitous, quality training options each semester. In addition to orienting and training colleagues, Izy serves as a pivotal resource to faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders. Before coming to Duke Izy’s work history included Contract Manager at Coastal Healthcare and block grant administrator at Joint Orange-Chatham Community Action. Izy earned a Masters in Counselor Education from North Carolina Central University and a Bachelors in Journalism with an emphasis in marketing and advertising from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Izy is a “Duke Star” employee; earned certifications include a designation of National Certified Counselor (NCC).
