Director, Financial Training

Gwen Hall-DiFabio currently serves as the Director for Financial Training supporting Duke University and Health System.  Financial Training provides classroom and online skills development training and certification programs for employees whose jobs require them to interact with the institution’s financial systems.   Additionally, the team authors and maintains a library of step-by-step guides and references to support financial operations.

Gwen and the Financial Training team focus on training (classroom, online, guides) in the following areas:

  • SAP Financials including adherence to General Accounting Procedures, understanding the General Ledger, a wide range of University and Health System reporting for both unrestricted and restricted funding sources.
  • Payroll systems and business processes including time and attendance tracking systems for exempt and non-exempt Staff and iForms, the operation tool supporting HR/Payroll transactions across the institution.
  • Accounts Payable and Procurement tools and reports for creating and monitoring purchase orders as well as tools and strategies for managing the pointing, payment, and reconciliation of invoices.
  • Employee Travel and Reimbursements policies, procedures and tools supporting expense reimbursements and appropriate processing of credit card transactions.
  • Financial Certification Programs to recognize excellence in several areas of finance expertise: Payroll, Accounts Payable/Procurement, Financial Systems, Travel/Reimbursements/Corporate Cards, and Financial Management.

Gwen has B.A. in Environmental Science and Policy from Duke University.
