Suzhou Future Scientists Training Program -- Xinhuo Program

Initiated by the Suzhou Association for Science and Technology and led by Professor Ming-Chun Huang, Xinhuo Program represents a pioneering collaboration between higher education institutions and local high schools to promote early engagement in scientific research. Between 2023 and 2027, A cohort of Suzhou High School, Suzhou No.10 High School, and Kunshan Bailu High School students received structured research mentorship, focusing on real-world problem-solving. By moving from classroom-based theory to hands-on experience in advanced university laboratories, students gained invaluable insights and significantly broadened their horizons. Our specific approaches include guiding students in crafting resumes to help them identify their strengths and areas for growth, providing hands-on practice with Python programming, conducting research on advanced large-scale language models in China, and encouraging students to independently pursue impactful signature work.
Driving Industry, Academia and Research Collaboration
Duke Kunshan University is actively building a robust industry–academia–research ecosystem that connects our faculty and students with global tech companies, local enterprises, and traditional industries. Through ongoing collaborations, such as joint activities with Amazon AWS that bridge cloud technologies and generative AI with real-world applications, we are bringing academic research closer to industrial needs and accelerating innovation on both sides. Our engagement with Kunshan’s smart-city and metaverse innovation platforms and partnerships with local traditional enterprises further demonstrate our commitment to applying AI, data science, and human-centered engineering to real operational contexts. These collaborations provide students with hands-on, practice-oriented learning while enabling companies to benefit from cutting-edge academic insights. By continuously expanding these partnerships, DKU is shaping a dynamic environment where research, education, and industry innovation reinforce one another—empowering students, supporting local and global enterprises, and driving meaningful technological and societal impact.
