  • Start with social work for medication access concerns, since they can screen for other umbrella programs or needs and help direct inquiries to the appropriate groups.

Specific Programs/Resources

NC MedAssist

Eligibility: 

  • Live in North Carolina
  • Uninsured (no Medicaid, Medicare, VA insurance, or private insurance)
    • Medicaid Family Planning is eligible
    • Medicare Part D Coverage Gap is eligible
  • Income at or below 300% of Federal Poverty Line

Senior PharmAssist

Eligibility:

  • Age 60 or older
  • Live in Durham County

Services:

  • Medication therapy management (geriatric clinical pharmacists who provide recommendations about medication): up to 300% of FPL
  • Direct financial assistance (pharmacy cards with secondary coverage to a Medicare-approved drug plan): up to 250% of FPL
  • Medicare insurance counseling (counseling about choosing the right medical or prescription coverage plan): any Medicare beneficiary in Durham County

To refer:

  • Include .DOCSENIORPHARMASSIST in patient instructions, which contains  contact information for the program.
  • Have the patient call 919-688-4772 for an appointment.
