Chloe Beck
Major in Psychology, Minors in Neuroscience and Environmental Science and Policy
Class of 2023
Hey everyone!! My name is Chloe Beck and I am from Watkinsville, GA. I am a rising senior and varsity tennis player here at Duke. I had a bit of an unconventional academic experience pre-Duke in that I did online school 6th-12th grade so that I could spend the year traveling for international tennis tournaments. Since online school was pretty bare-bones, I used my first few semesters at Duke to figure out what I’m passionate about academically, and with my new-found interests, I decided to pursue a major in Psychology with a double minor in Neuroscience and Environmental Science and Policy. When I’m not playing tennis or doing coursework, I really enjoy being outdoors – whether that be reading a book, going on a hike, or just spending time with friends out on the Bryan Center plaza. I am so pumped to have the opportunity to travel again, meet all of you guys, and explore Denmark!

At Duke I enjoy playing clarinet in the Duke University Marching Band and working at the Lemur Center. I’m not sure what I want to major in yet, but I am passionate about environmental issues and interested in Marine Science and Conservation. Grace Hall
Interested in Biology, Marine Science & Conservation, and Earth and Climate Sciences
Class of 2025
Hi guys! My name is Grace and I’m from Raleigh, NC (which makes traveling to Duke such a pain with all the layovers and time change and such over the 25-mile journey). As may be expected I love nature and am so excited to learn more about Denmark! I love hiking, swimming, and running and have been running (and let’s be real, sometimes walking) ultramarathons with my dad since my sophomore year of high school (we completed our first 100-mile race in the Black Hills of South Dakota last summer)! I also love all things geology (when I took Dynamic Oceans last semester, I earnestly believed it was my duty to tell everyone about the composition and origin of each type of ocean sediment) and biology (I especially love siphonophores and nudibranchs and am very much hoping to see a seal like the one advertised in the flyer for this trip). I am also very interested in archeology and etymology so I’m super excited to learn about Danish culture and history! (As is the theme, I am also super excited to meet ya’ll, see ya soon!)
Hannah Hess

At Duke, I love riding horses with the Duke University Equestrian Team and volunteering at the Duke Lemur Center. Other interests of mine include wildlife photography, listening to music, going to concerts, and acting. Can’t wait to get to know everyone as we explore this amazing earth!
Natalie Lewis
Environmental Science
Class of 2024
Hi! My name is Natalie Lewis, and I am a sophomore from Phoenix, AZ. I was outside in the warm sunshine a lot growing up, so I absolutely love hiking, camping, road-tripping, and everything else about the outdoors. You can probably find me at Duke Gardens, the rooftop garden of Grainger Hall, or just studying on the grass in the quad, letting the sun refill my energy. I also work at the Duke climbing wall and spend many an hour there. As you might be able to guess, I am an environmental science major on the pre-med track. I’m fascinated by the relationship between human health and environmental health (and therefore am super excited that the focus of Duke in Denmark revolves around both the natural environment and the history of human experience). I played basketball throughout high school and play club basketball right now, so you can bet I am a hardcore Blue Devils fan. Fun fact: I also love music and played electric guitar in a rock band in high school. I can’t wait to meet everyone!
Rhonda Lewis
Major in Psychology, Minor in Neuroscience
Class of 2022
Hi, I’m Rhonda Lewis and a senior at Duke, officially graduating in Fall 2022. I was born in North Carolina, but my home for the last few years has been San Luis Obispo, CA, a coastal town roughly halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco. I will be graduating with a B.S. in Psychology and a minor in Neuroscience. I am also interested in the biological sciences and would like to collectively apply the knowledge from those disciplines to work in research in the future. While in Denmark, I anticipate learning more about climate change as well as Danish history and culture. In my very limited free time, I love to cook, hike/camp, and read anything I can get my hands on. Fun fact about me: I am one of 11 children (my parents are simultaneously amazing and overambitious!), and one of my brothers lives in Sweden, so it’s thrilling that he and I will be so close! I am beyond excited to be a part of this program and eager to meet you all.

At Duke, I’ve been involved in the Environmental Justice Oral History Project, been a senator in the DSG, a volunteer at the non-profit Audacity Labs and a photojournalist at the Ninth Street Journal. I love films, digital storytelling, visiting flight decks, and all things tech. Presently, some of my big goals are to go on a polar expedition and to shoot a music video on top of the chapel. Excited to explore Denmark and meet everyone!

Class of 2025
Hey guys, my name is Rhone Resch and I am a freshman from Washington, DC. In my free time I enjoy playing sports and exercising, listening to music, as well as spending time with friends. I have been interested in the environment and climate change since I was little, always trying to implement ways to be more efficient and carbon neutral in my household. Additionally, Scandinavia has been a fascination of mine since having an exchange student in middle school from Norway and getting to visit him my freshman year of high school – Denmark in particular has a lot to offer in terms of its history and culture and I can’t wait to meet everyone and explore Denmark!
