Xianglian 湘簾 [curtain made of bamboo]

The curtain is made of Xiangfei 湘妃 bamboo. Legend has it that the two wives of Emperor Shun, Emperor E and Lady Ying, pursued Emperor Shun thousands of miles away. After arriving at Junshan, upon hearing that Emperor Shun had already collapsed, he wept bitterly and shed tears that turned into blood, forming spots on the bamboo, hence the name “spotted bamboo”, also known as “tearful bamboo” or “Xiangfei bamboo”.

Xianglian has been developing for thousands of years, and as early as the Song and Qing dynasties, some poets mentioned that Xianglian gives people a sense of elegance, romance, and poetic charm, which is commonly used by poets to modify their poetry.

Nowadays, many people use curtains like this to add a sense of simplicity, elegance, and uniqueness both indoors and outdoors, filling the space with a scholarly and textured atmosphere.
