Xianghu 香户 [door with fragrance]

The literal meaning of xiang  is fragrant. Originally, xiang was used to describe the smell of ripening crops, later it generally referred to sweet-smelling and things with fragrance. In ancient China, it was also used to refer to beautiful women or describe women’s things with compliments. Hu  means door. Here xianghu refers to the door of the young lady Yanyu’s bedroom.
