Kongxin Ji 空心髻 [hollow bun]

A hairstyle in ancient China. It is a type of women’s hairstyle with hair coiled into a bun and a hollow shape in the middle, popular from the Song Dynasty to the Republic of China.

A late Qing photograph with married women lining up in front of a shop. They were probably wearing the hair style of kongxin ji.
