Creative Process

In spring 2022, Keena Gao applied for the Maclin Community Connections Grant Program in the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion because she believed that the mural could not only celebrate engineers but show the potential that arises when individuals from different backgrounds build a future together. She quickly recruited other engineers who were interested in the project, which led to her meeting Alexa Bolin Santiago. With the help of Grace Williams, they were able to make the mural in their heads a reality as she created the digital version of the mural. Over the course of 6 months, Keena and Alexa got to working on making this mural a reality for all engineers who walk through Teer to enjoy!
