Dr. Shan Wang
Dr. Shan Wang is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Duke Kunshan University, who completed her education and training in experimental psychology and quantitative methods. Shan has a Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Bath and completed her research based in the Centre for Pain Research, Bath, UK. Prior to this, Shan completed her M.Sc. in Psychology at the University of Edinburgh and received clinical training at the Western General Hospital, Edinburgh, UK, with a focus on cognitive decline in dementia. Shan also has a B.Sc. and a PG Diploma in Psychology from Tianjin Normal University, China and Loughborough University, UK. Before joining Duke Kunshan University, Shan worked as a post-doctorate researcher in Oxford, UK from 2017 to 2019 and completed her research projects in the Perception and Motion Analysis Lab at Oxford Brookes University. Shan’s research interests lie primarily in the area of cognitive psychology and extend across a range of subjects related to perception and action.

Shujing Zhang
Shujing Zhang is a Research Fellow in Motor Cognition at the Cognition-Perception-Action Lab, mentored by Assistant Professor Dr. Shan Wang. Holding a B.A. in Applied Psychology from Chengdu College of Arts and Sciences and an M.Sc. in Mental Health from the University of Nottingham, Shujing previously served as an ABA Therapist in Shanghai. Her research areas encompass cognitive and developmental psychology, motor planning, aging, and conditions like ADHD and ASD.
Undergraduate Research Assistant
Yixuan (Arwen) Chen (Class of 2024)
Yixuan Chen is a senior undergraduate majoring in Behavioral Science with a track in Psychology at Duke Kunshan University (DKU). She works as a Research Assistant and Summer Research Scholar at Cognition-Perception-Action Lab for Professor Shan Wang. Her research interests include pain perceptions, pain communication, intimate relationships, emotions, clinical and counselling psychology.
Ziran (Arthur) Kong (Class of 2025)
Ziran (Arthur) Kong is a junior student majoring in Behavioral Science with a track in Psychology at Duke Kunshan University (DKU). Arthur holds positions as a Research Assistant and Summer Research Scholar at the Cognition-Perception-Action Lab. His research interests primarily revolve around the fields of cognitive psychology and biological psychology, with a focus on seeking to understand fascinating cognitive processes while investigating their biological foundations.
Siyuan (Abby) Wang (Class of 2025)
Siyuan Wang is a junior student majoring in psychology from Duke Kunshan University. She has been doing pain research with Prof. Shan Wang since December 2022, as well as a summer research project to investigate the discrepancies between the physiological responses, facial action units, and self-report. Her research interest is focused on cognitive and clinical psychology.

Zhiyuan (Zack) Liu graduated from Duke Kunshan University (DKU) with a Bachelor of Science degree in Behavioral Science with a track in Psychology in May 2023. Zack is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences at Yale University, USA.

Tzu-Ying (Jean) Chuang graduated from Duke Kunshan University (DKU) with a Bachelor of Science degree in Behavioral Science with a track in Neuroscience in May 2023. Jean is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Brain and Mind Sciences at University College London, UK.
