Isabella & Emma Discuss Jackie 2021

On this week’s episode of The Cineamerican Dream, Isabella and Emma will sit down to discuss all of your burning questions after watching Pablo Larrain’s Jackie.

Starring Natalie Portman, Jackie is a biographical drama that explores the experiences of First Lady Jackie Kennedy following the tragic events of her husband’s assassination. We see her grieving process firsthand as she witnesses his death, plans his funeral services, and prepares for her new life. Throughout the film, we are constantly questioning the art of performance and wondering where exactly the line can be drawn between reality and fantasy. In our discussion of Jackie, we will attempt to unfold the “woman behind the mask” and the creator of a new kind of “Camelot,” while also touching on the various techniques that brought this film to life. In order to do so, we will draw on important ideas such as the roles of gender, the foreign perspectives of an American Capitalist society, and so much more. Be sure to catch our episode this week, you won’t want to miss it!
