Dancer in the Dark, Lars von Trier’s 2000 musical featuring Björk follows the tragic story of Selma (Björk), a Czech immigrant in America working to save enough money to save her son from hereditary blindness.

Disclaimer: the hosts hated this film. On this episode of CineAmerican Dream, we’ll discuss why (despite its Palme d’Or) this film didn’t do it for us. Tune in for our take and to learn more about the film’s dramatic on-set dynamics and its messages on gender and capitalism.
