Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is a well-validated child and parent psychotherapy approach that uses cognitive-behavioral therapy and stress management techniques to help children and families who have experienced sexual abuse or other traumas. It has been shown to significantly improve trauma-related symptoms, depression, and problem behaviors in children, and also to decrease parents’ emotional distress.1,2

North Carolina Child Treatment Program (NC CTP) Learning Collaboratives on Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)
To date, NC CTP has partnered with NCCTS and the Duke EPIC team to conduct six TF-CBT Learning Collaboratives in North Carolina. As a result of these Learning Collaboratives, 280 therapists have been trained in TF-CBT and more than 450 clients have been enrolled in treatment. Southern Regional Children’s Advocacy Center (SRCAC) Learning Collaboratives on Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)
One of SRCAC’s key mandates is to establish effective child-focused programs that support coordination among the many agencies responding to child abuse. To this end, SRCAC has partnered with Duke EPIC to establish a Learning Collaborative on Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). Through this Collaborative, SRCAC seeks to (1) Improve access to TF-CBT for traumatized children and their families; (2) Establish a network of therapists with proven clinical competence in TF-CBT adequate to meet the needs of SRCAC clients; (3) Build the organizational capacity needed to ensure that participating agencies implement and sustain the delivery of TF-CBT and other evidence-based practices.

Trauma Recovery for Youth/Mississippi Department of Mental Health Learning Collaboratives on Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)
In 2008, TRY and the Mississippi Department of Mental Health partnered with National Center for Child Traumatic Stress and members of the Duke EPIC team to launch a statewide Learning Collaborative in Mississippi designed to enhance the implementation of Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) in the treatment of children and families impacted by trauma.
Because the educational segment of the Learning Collaborative was conducted under the auspices of Mississippi’s Department of Mental Health, Division of Professional Development, participants were eligible for 12.5 hours of continuing education credit for completion of each learning session.

University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) Regional Learning Collaboratives on Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)
Between 2007 and 2009 the UTHSC COEs– in concert with NCCTS and key members of the Duke EPIC team– launched three Learning Collaboratives with the goal of extending the use of TF-CBT throughout Tennessee.
To date, these Learning Collaboratives have trained more than 190 clinicians and administrators from 32 community treatment agencies across Tennessee. The UTHSC COEs continue to provide support to the agencies involved in the Learning Collaborative.
