During the 2021-2022 academic year, we will teach courses that explore the broad range of what Black Music can mean, including jazz history and practice, Black music history, sonic design by Black art composers, and multimedia expression including Black music.
As we convene our Humanities Unbounded workshops, we will engage the undergraduate and graduate students in developing a future set of courses that address a new, Black-music-inclusive academic frontier which allows for innovative ways to achieve mastery of musical practice and scholarship. Previously-established courses taught during 2022-2023 will also highlight salient connections to the Black Music Lab themes and events.
