Bass Connections exemplifies Duke’s commitment to team-based interdisciplinary research and education.
Duke Participation
Bass Connections engages students, faculty and staff in collaborative research on complex societal challenges.
A total of 1,201 members of the Duke community took part in our project teams and summer research projects. In addition, many more students and faculty were involved Bass Connections courses.
External Engagement
Bass Connections teams engage with communities in North Carolina, across the country and around the world.
Funding
Bass Connections is made possible by more than 70 donors, including founding donors Anne and Robert Bass.
Our generous donors have established 86 funds to support project teams, educational programming, faculty engagement and linkages between Bass Connections and other university programs. The funds enable Bass Connections to expand opportunities for students to engage in team-based, applied research.
Additional funding was provided this year by the Duke Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute to support projects related to health inequality and innovation.
Core program expenses in 2021-2022 totaled approximately $2.6 million
