ABOUT
The Shared Materials Instrumentation Facility (SMIF) at Duke University is an interdisciplinary, shared resource open to researchers from all schools and departments—as well as to users from other universities, government laboratories and industry. It’s mission is to provide researchers and educators with high quality and cost-effective access to advanced characterization, imaging and cleanroom fabrication capabilities.

HOW DO I GET ACCESS?
Users must complete general training on lab safety and procedures to gain access to labs, as well as training on specific equipment to become a certified user. Access to the SMIF labs is by card entry using Duke ID cards.
