Michael Betts II
Assistant Professor of Film Studies in Sound Design at UNCW

Michael Anthony Betts II, is a native North Carolina sound designer who is passionately fascinated by the story of the world around him.

Graduating from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2011 with a BA in Communications focused in media studies and MFA in Experimental Documentary Arts at Duke University, Betts is now an Assistant Professor of Film Studies in Sound Design at UNC-Wilmington.

Betts has worked as a Sound Designer with a variety of playwrights like Mike Wiley, Howard Craft, and Dr. Sonny Kelly Most recently Betts and Peabody nominated podcaster John Biewen collaborated with the Kenan signature program America’s Hallowed Ground to produce a multi-episode podcast about the 1898 race massacre and coup d’etat in Wilmington, NC.
