| Reverend Dr. Carruthers is an ordained Minister in the United Church of Christ and is Professor Emeritus and former Chair of the Sociology Department at Northeastern Illinois University where she received the university’s 1999 Life Achievement Award. She uses her ministry as a vehicle for addressing the social issues of people of African descent, and has a long history of engaging community development initiatives fostering interfaith and racial reparatory justice throughout the world. Reverend Dr. Carruthers is the author of The Church and Reparations – An African American Perspective and serves on several Boards, including American Baptist College and Bread for the World. |
