Dr. Sloan is a social work researcher with over eight years of experience as a clinician in home-based hospice and palliative care.  Her research focuses on improving the delivery of palliative care to the historically excluded through behavioral research methods and interventions. She addresses the inequities in access and awareness in African-American communities by building capacity through education and skill building with church leaders and parishioners.  Dr. Sloan has conducted several studies addressing the underutilization of hospice among Black Americans, health disparities at the end of life care, and poor symptom control.
