At the beginning of each academic year, WLSA selects a number of 1Ls and LLMs to serve as Representatives. Serving as a 1L or LLM Representative is a great opportunity to become more involved with one of Duke Law’s most active student organizations. Responsibilities include event planning, helping with event logistics, attending WLSA board meetings, and helping WLSA further its mission of creating community and empowering women on campus.
We’re proud to announce our 2019-20 1L and LLM Representatives:
1L Representatives: Paget Barranco, Gabrielle Feliciani, Melissa Gustafson, Cassandra Klosterman, Esther Lu, Dana Sublett
Paget Barranco: Paget is from Baltimore, Maryland. She graduated from Duke University in 2018 with a B.A. in Public Policy and Psychology. For two years, she worked in Washington D.C. as a business analyst. In addition to serving as a 1L rep for WLSA, she is also involved with the Criminal Law Society. Paget enjoys singing, hiking, and binge-watching TV.
Gabrielle Feliciani: Gabrielle grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She graduated St. John’s College with a B.A. in Liberal Arts in 2017. After graduating, Gabrielle worked in Maryland state politics as a campaign finance consultant and as the Legislative Director for a Maryland State Delegate representing Baltimore City. In her free time, Gabrielle enjoys cooking, running 5ks, going to concerts, and discussing classic literature.
Melissa Gustafson: Melissa grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Lehigh University in 2019 with a B.A. in English and Psychology and again in 2020 with an M.S. in Management. At Duke Law, she is also a member of the active investigations team for the Innocence Project. In her free time, Melissa enjoys listening to music, playing board games with family and friends, and watching reality TV shows.
Cassandra Klosterman: Cassandra is from Gilbert, Arizona. She graduated from Washington University in St. Louis in 2016, where she majored in the Interdisciplinary Project in the Humanities with a focus on Russian Language and Literature. Prior to attending Duke Law, Cassandra primarily worked in the voter engagement sphere. Most recently, she was the Public Relations Officer for the St. Louis County Board of Elections, the largest election authority in Missouri. Cassandra enjoys yoga, cycling, and binge-watching sitcoms while cuddling with her dog, Winston.
Esther Lu: Esther grew up in Naperville, IL. She graduated from the University of California: Los Angeles in 2019, where she majored in Political Science and English. In addition to WLSA, Esther is a member of the Business Law Association and the Asian Pacific American Law Student Association. Esther is interested in business law and international law and hopes to work in these two fields, with a focus on small businesses and startups. In her free time, she enjoys drawing, watching movies, playing video games, hiking, and trying new foods.
Dana Sublett: Dana is from Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She graduated from Texas A&M University in 2019 where she majored in Chemical Engineering and minored in French. Prior to attending law school, Dana worked as an engineer in a semiconductor manufacturing facility in Austin. In her free time, she loves to spend time outside, try new restaurants, and attempt complicated baking projects. Her favorite things to bake are French macarons because they require a lot scientific precision, like the lab work that she enjoyed in undergrad.
