Don’t forget to register for “Celebration of Women in Science”!

Join us on Sat. May 20, 2017 for a mini symposium hosted by WiSE and RTP’s Graduate Women in Science (GWIS)!

The goals of this event are to build a local community of women in science by encouraging networking and to empower women in science by providing a supportive and encouraging environment in which you can present your science to a broader scientific audience.

This event is free for all participants. Registration is now OPEN! If you would like to be considered for a short talk, you must register by APRIL 25, 2017.  Presenters will be selected by GWIS and Duke WISE officers and notified by May 1, 2017. General registration (posters and nonpresenters) will be open until May 1, 2017.

The Celebration of Women in Science Research Symposium will take place from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday May 20, 2017. The agenda for this event is below.

Time                        Event

1-1:15 p.m.             Welcome and Introductory Remarks

1:15-2:15 p.m.        Keynote: “Diverse Origins in Science,” Dr. Patricia Jensen (NIEHS)

2:30-3:30 p.m.        Four 15 min talks (10 min talk + 5 min questions)

3:30-5:00 p.m.        Poster and networking reception with light hors’ doeuvres and beverages

 

LOCATION & PARKING

The Celebration of Women in Science Research Symposium will be held at Duke University in Love Auditorium (B101) in the Levine Science Research Center (LSRC) located at 308 Research Drive, Durham, NC 27708. Free parking will be available in the Circuit Lot. There will be a parking attendant to hand out parking permits for the lot. Once you have a parking permit, you can leave the lot at any time.
