GETTING A VISA

Before you get on that plane to Brazil, you must obtain a visa from the Brazilian Consulate or Embassy closest to you. However, if you do not live in a major city, be aware that Brazilian Consulates in the United States are quite sparse and can only be found in the following locations: Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Hartford (CT), Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, San Francisco, and Washington D.C. Each consulate or embassy contains different states within its jurisdiction–be sure to obtain your visa from the consulate or embassy that contains your state!

FLIGHT TIME

Some popular Brazilian airlines are TAM and Gol. In addition, Avianca, Copa Airlines, American Airlines, and US Airways all operate flights to Brazil’s major cities. The flight from New York (JFK Airport) to São Paulo (Guarulhos International Airport) is about 9 hours and 35 minutes non-stop. The flight from New York (JFK Airport) to Rio de Janeiro (Galeão International Airport) is about 10 hours non-stop.
