It seems only fitting to begin with the style of the country that created football. Even though they get credit for creating the game, they definitely do not receive any for innovating it. The British still play the game much like it was played centuries ago. Instead of technical skill, they rely upon brute force, aggression, and moving the ball up field as quickly as possible (Murphy). This style is used by not only the British national team, but also Premier League clubs, MLS teams, and the USA Men’s national team. Media sources refer to this as the “Warrior Style” because of the aggressive, sometimes violent approach they bring to the pitch (Murphy). They prefer to power their their way down the field as fast as possible instead of maintaining possession playing a more attractive game.
