This section functions as an introduction between the students and the program. You can make sure that the program gets off to a good start with all of the students by making sure of something as simple as the pronunciation of archaeology – incorporate the words archaeology and archaeologist into your guidance for the class and then walk around to ensure everyone is comfortable with the word. The last thing we want is for any students to be intimidated by the subject!
During the brainstorming session, again, walk around and inspire some ideas. Ideas can include the pyramids, Indiana Jones, etc., anything to get the students collaborating and thinking about the puzzle that is archaeology.

Have the students pick one idea from their brainstorming session to bring home and talk about archaeology at the dinner table. What do your parents know about archaeology that you can bring back to the class to share.
