RTI Science Communication Summer Internship

RTI International is an independent, nonprofit institute located in Research Triangle Park that provides research, development and technical services to government and commercial clients worldwide. Our mission is to improve the human condition by turning knowledge into practice.

RTI International has a Science Communication Internship opening for Summer 2018 within the Science in the Public Sphere Program in the Social, Statistical, and Environmental Sciences research unit. This internship will provide the successful prospect a mentored learning experience, and the opportunity to expand his/her knowledge of public translation of social science research in a variety of ways in a professional setting.

The successful intern will primarily assist with developing content for The Measure of Everyday Life radio show and promotion of the show to various audiences. The Measure of Everyday Life is a weekly interview program, featuring social science researchers who endeavor to improve the human condition. For more information, see measureradio.net. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Recording and editing audio stories for The Measure of Everyday Life
  • Managing the promotion of The Measure of Everyday Life via social media
  • Investigating relevant social science research at RTI for future stories
  • Conducting literature reviews and other related tasks for RTI projects

 

PhD students in any discipline in the humanities or interpretative social sciences are welcome to apply. Preferred candidates will have completed two or more social science courses and have demonstrable experience producing audio or video content.
