The internships provide Duke doctoral students in the humanities and humanistic social sciences exposure to work experiences, organizations, and professions relevant to their scholarly interests.
The opportunities will help Duke Ph.D. students in the humanities and humanistic social sciences integrate relevant off-campus work experiences with their academic interests and professional goals.
The Innovation Grants help doctoral programs develop and implement curricular changes designed to enrich students’ academic experiences, and prepare them for transformative roles inside and outside of academia.
The internship experiences are designed to help enrich students’ dissertations and prepare students for academic and nonacademic careers.
Maria LaMonaca Wisdom, the newly hired director of graduate student advising and engagement for the humanities, will help graduate students explore diverse career paths and develop plans for achieving their career goals.
Funded in part by a $350,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the new program will enhance the curriculum and expand career opportunities for doctoral students in the humanities and interpretive social sciences.
