Will I be compensated? Yes, you will get $75 total: $25 each for completing the Week 4, Week 12, and Month 6 surveys.
Does the study cost me anything? The study does not cost you anything. The app does not cost anything to download and the other therapies, cognitive behavioral therapy and coaching, are included in the study.
Can I choose my group? You cannot choose which group to join. You will be randomly assigned (a fair 50/50 chance) to one of the two groups to start the study.
Do I have to visit a clinic? You do not have to visit a clinic for this study. The whole study can be completed online and over the phone.
Can I keep using the mobile app after I finish the study? Yes, once the study is over you can continue using the app, and with no charge.
How do I know if I am able to participate? You can call the study team to find out if you are able to join. The study team will talk to you to see if you are eligible and may send you a survey link to help determine your eligibility.
How much time will be required? The study intervention is 12 weeks, and you may be asked to download the study app; if so, you can use the app as much or as little as you need. We will also ask you to take surveys at week 4, week 12, and month 6. These survey’s can take 20-30 minutes to complete.
Who is sponsoring the study? The National Cancer Institute is sponsoring this study.
What if I am receiving cognitive behavioral therapy for traumatic stress? If you currently are or have received cognitive behavioral therapy or CBT within the past 6 months, you cannot be in the study at this time. However, when are no longer receiving this therapy for at least 6 months, please call the study team.
What if I am taking an anti-depressant/anxiety medication? If you are taking anti-depressants or anti-anxiety medications, you can participate in this study.
