T-Mobile upgrading system at Duke

OIT announces that T-Mobile will invest $7M in its Duke campus cell coverage system. T-Mobile will begin upgrading hardware and software in 147 buildings to improve overall cell coverage on campus. Work is expected to be completed in spring 2019.

ePrint update over spring break

There will be an ePrint update over spring break Monday, March 11 starting at 9:30 a.m. We anticipate a brief outage of at least 30-45 minutes and perhaps longer.

After the update, users will receive an ePrint software update prompt the next time they initiate a print job.

Which keyboard shortcut has changed your life? What software can you not live without? What tech tip would you tell a newly-hired employee or give an incoming freshman?


In April, we will have a special Learn IT @ Lunch session where we will share tech tips that we are gathering from members of the Duke Community, like you.   Tips can be submitted through this Qualtrics survey.

If you submit a tip, look for a small prize from OIT in your Duke campus mailbox.

New Warpwire improves podcast hosting and feeds

OIT announces a major update to Warpwire, Duke’s audio video streaming service. Warpwire version 2.8 will improve podcast hosting for those that formerly used iTunes U to host podcasts. It also enables an audio only player and improved RSS feeds directed to Apple Podcasts.

In addition, Warpwire 2.8 includes these new features:

  • Faster playback around the world, due to enhanced global hosting.
  • Better recording. No more Flash and the ability to record your screen.
  • Web-based editor including a clipping tool to trim AV clips.

Please note: Warpwire is expected to function normally during the update, however, users will not be able to upload files during the update from 8 p.m. January 7 until 2 a.m. January 8. For concerns or issues contact the OIT service desk at oit.duke.edu/help.
