Join Us September 13th for “Counterterrorism in the Age of Trump: a Conversation with Lisa Monaco”

On Wednesday, September 13th at 6:00 pm please join the Triangle Center on Terrorism and Homeland Security, the Duke Program in American Grand Strategy, and the Sanford School of Public Policy for our annual 9/11 commemorative event. This year we will be hosting Lisa Monaco for a conversation on Counterterrorism in the Trump Era.

Lisa Monaco has spent the past two decades in public service, serving at the highest levels in national security and law enforcement in our nation. From 2013 to 2017 she served as United States Homeland Security and Counterterrorism Advisor to President Obama. During this time she led policy coordination and crisis management on issues ranging from terrorist attacks at home and abroad to cyber security, pandemics, and natural disasters.

Prior to working in the executive branch, Monaco was confirmed by the United States Senate as Assistant Attorney General for National Security in 2011, becoming the first woman to ever hold that position. Today, she serves as Distinguished Senior Fellow at New York University Law School’s Center for Law & Security, as well as the Center for Cybersecurity, and as Senior Fellow at Harvard University’s Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs. She is also a Senior National Security Analyst for CNN.

Triangle Center Director David Schanzer will moderate a discussion with Monaco and a public Q & A will follow.

The event will be held at Duke’s Sanford School of Public Policy in the Fleishman Commons. The event is free and open to the public, and no tickets are required.

If you are unable to attend in person, the event will be livestreamed on the Sanford School’s YouTube and Facebook pages:
