Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction, John Sopko, visits Duke
On March 24, the Triangle Center hosted John Sopko, Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction. During his evening at Duke, he discussed his mission to identify waste, fraud, and abuse in government projects and programs in Afghanistan, while also recommending ways to improve government initiatives and government efficiency. In this largely “forgotten war” the United States has spent over $117 billion dollars to date, and the U.S. has committed to providing an additional $5-6 billion each year through 2020.
